Duties:
The responsibility of the Recorder of Deeds office is to record, maintain and preserve all the land records of Monroe County.  Marriage license records and military discharge papers are also filed in this office. 

  • Marriage Application Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old without consent of parent or legal guardian
  • BOTH parties must be present at the time of application
  • Must bring a valid form of photo ID for proof of age and social security number
  • No waiting period required for marriage license
  • License valid for 30 days in ANY county within the State of Missouri
  • Return license in 15 days of marriage to Recorder’s Office it was purchased
  • No refund for unused, lost or destroyed license

Previous Marriage Licenses:
Must bring death certificate or dissolution of marriage.  If not, application will not be taken. 
If divorced less than 30 days, you must bring your signed decree or waiver by the judge.

Copy of Real Estate Document  $ 0.50 per page
Certified Copy of Real Estate Document $ 0.50 per page, plus $2 for certification

**Cash or Check is Accepted**

All documents to be mailed must be accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope of sufficient size to accomodate the document. 

Searches from 1831-1995 can only be completed in the Monroe County Courthouse.  The Monroe County Recorder’s office does not do searches, unless a specific information request is made and sent with $14.00.
